There are several key characters in Avatar: Macai's Journey. AMJ sports a mix of new original characters and classic characters from Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Original Characters
Macai: The main character of AMJ. A young man who is constantly trying to live up to his father's immense expectations. He starts seeing the world in a very one-dimensional way but eventually learns there is more to it than meets the eye.
Eyre: A proud and powerful Fire Nation General known for his dogmatic ways, cold nature, and unyielding loyalty.
Yosari: Macai's loving, rebellious, and warm mother.
Rosh: Macai's bold, confident, controversial, and daring best friend.
Zyger: Macai's loyal homeservant and mentor.
Kett: A firebending student from the Fire Nation Colony Nyarri. Kett grows up with a disdain for nobles.
Kanna: An adaptive, awkward, hopeful, and cheerful firebender. Kanna is known for her radiant smile and shares the same name as a ATLA character's grandmother.
Dade: Kanna and Kett's relaxed best friend. Dade often struggles to motivate himself during daunting situations but his loyalty and love for his friends pulls him along.

Azula: The fearless and mysterious Fire Nation Princess that Macai is drawn to.
Ozai: Azula's manipulative, abusive, and charismatic father.
Zuko: Azula's loving and courageous yet underappreciated brother.
Ursa: Azula's mother who is much closer to Zuko than her.
Iroh: Zuko's caring uncle that looks after him and a man with remarkable wisdom.
Aang: The Avatar, a spiritual warrior that is said to intervene in difficult conflicts each generation to maintain spiritual balance.
