Dade was one of Macai's best friends from the Fire Nation colony Nyarri. Dade grew up with Kett and Kanna. Dade is the same age as Kett. This means that he was seventeen during the events of ATLA. Dade is a nonbender and a skilled swordsman. Dade would later become one of Macai's most trusted officers. He came in as a 2nd class Lieutenant upon Macai's request and eventually became a 1st class lieutenant during the war.

Family History

Dade's father was a Fire Nation soldier and a non-bender. His father (Celaido) served under General Iroh and was killed during the long Siege of Ba Sing Se by an Earth Kingdom archer. Not long after his passing, Iroh's son died during the assault and Iroh's forces retreated from battle. From then on, Dade became dependent on his mother to raise him. This also caused Dade to grow up with very negative views of the Earth Kingdom.

Personality

Dade was known for his loyalty, intelligence, and prudence. Dade was a supportive, considerate, and optimistic individual. Dade was always grateful for what he had, no matter how much or little.

Nyarri Tournament

Before the tournament, Dade sought out the legendary duelist Crazy Oktai. Oktai was once a famous Fire Nation duelist before he left and was dishonorably discharged. After the incident, Oktai returned to his birthplace of Nyarri. Then Oktai moved into the outskirts of Nyarri near the isolated upper valley forest. Okati tested Dade and his friends in a dangerous way. However, Dade's team ultimately prevailed during their test. Oktai went on to give Dade several difficult tests and Dade would eventually pass each one.

Oktai agreed to become Dade's personal trainer during the Nyarri tournament and Dade's skills exponentially progressed during his time with Oktai. Dade performed well during the Nyarri Non-bender Tournament. He made it to the Quarter finals before suffering a defeat against an opponent who used a curved sword. Soon after the tournament, Dade would graduate at sixteen years old (the National average age upon graduation).
