Kett was a member Macai's Naval Unit during the One Hundred Year War. Kett was known for being a gifted firebender in his childhood but, he grew up in the Fire Nation colony Nyarri. In Nyarri, he had to learn to fight in a land where he had natural disadvantages as compared to those in the Fire Nation capital. Nyarri was from a land that was annexed territory that once belonged to the Southern Water Tribes. It had a relatively cold climate with harsh winters; sunlight was more limited than in the Fire National Capital and several other Fire Nation territories.

Though Nyarri's training services were more elite than standard forces, they still offered less resources than what was used in the Fire Nation Capital. The families were also less strict than the Fire Nation nobles who lived in the capital. Even so, Kett had skills in combat that exceeded most Capital nobles. In Kett's military town, the standard soldiers often had more remarkable combat skills than the nobles from other towns. Nyarri was a competitive world where the students would often challenge and fight each other in Agni Kais. The annual Fire Bending Tournament was a very big deal Nyarri.

Kett was two years older than Macai, making him seventeen during the events of ATLA. He was also one year older than his friend Kanna and Zuko. This also made him three years older than Azula and two years older than Mai.

Abilities

Kett was known for bending a mixture of light orange and yellow fire. Making his flames a bit hotter than that of most fire benders. Kett could attack fire his flames with blinding speed and had a very strong defense. He fought a bit more defensively than Macai but, his style was more balanced than Azula's defense style. Kett was jacked and physically stronger than both Macai and Rosh. He was stronger than most older adults in his unit.

Kett naturally stayed calm in battle and could control the pace of most of his fights. Kett would often out-maneuver his enemies in combat. Kett also fought a bit like a waterbender in combat. Especially later in his career.

Kett was known for using rays of fire while in combat. Kett used fire rays more frequently, quickly, smoothly, and easily than Macai, Rosh, Zuko, Azula, Iroh, and Kanna. Kett fired explosive flames more than all firebenders except Kanna and Zhao. Kett was known for creating massive explosive balls of fire and throwing them at his enemies. By the last year of the Hundred Year War, Kett was capable of taking elevated archers head on with his bending.

Note: Kett practically never uses firewhips.
