The Sea Guerrillas were a faction of pirate smugglers. They stole, traded, and purchased several illegal goods. The Sea Guerrillas particularly stole from Fire Nation settlements and military facilities. This made them targets for Captain Macai's 31st Company.
Appearance
The Sea Guerrillas were known for having teal uniforms with light sand markings. The vast majority of Sea Guerrillas were nonbenders and most of them were armed with short swords. Some of these pirates were armed with daggers or were knife throwers.
Leaders
The Leader of the group was an Earthbender named Nambo Vib. Second in command of the group was a firebender named Talon Zon. Third in command of the group was a waterbender named Rigor Po. Nambo was in his late forties when he faced off against Ronin (one of Macai's 31st marines) in battle. Talon was in her early thirties when her fleet engaged Macai's ship, the Prompt Adjudicator, outside the port of New Polexia. Rigor Po was in her early late twenties when he fought Kett on New Polexia's beachhead.
Nambo was a strong, calm, and confident leader. He led his forces to victory against the Fire Nation several times. He knew when to fight and when to retreat. Which kept him alive for some time. Talon was the most brutal of the Sea Guerrilla leaders. Talon might put civilians or innocents at risk for her schemes. However, Nambo kept Talon in check throughout her career. Despite Talon's firebending abilities, she rarely displayed them. Only Rambo and two other members knew Talon could firebend. Rigor did not even know.
Whenever Talon fought, she relied on her non-bending skills to win her a fight. Talon feared that knowledge of her true origins could tarnish the reputation's authority. Rather than risk the Sea Guerrilla's reputation being hampered, Talon promised herself that she would quit if her identity was discovered by the masses. Fortunately for her, she managed to keep her identity a secret throughout her career.
Rigor Po had a particular disdain for Fire Nation forces but he could restrain himself. Rigor kept count of the Fire Nation members that he killed. Rigor killed over thirty Fire Nation soldiers. Rigor was a proficient waterbender who was capable of taking on several Firebenders at once. Rigor had skills that rivaled Kett in battle.
Reputation
The Sea Guerrillas were respected by several smuggler and pirate groups throughout the world. This group was known for its bravery and daring members. Few pirates were brave enough to join this group. Few pirate groups were as feared as this organization.
Title
Sea Guerrillas refers to a team of pirates who are difficult to find within the seas. Guerrillas is often used to describe practitioners of guerrilla warfare. Those who flank and ambush their enemies and do not fight them head on. In a way, the Sea Guerrillas used a guerrilla form of naval warfare. By moving with fast and agile ships to quickly take key supplies and raid smaller Fire Nation facilities before the bulk of Fire Nation forces could engage them. It was for this reason that Macai's ship the Prompt Adjudicator was sought after to engage this faction.
