Largely considered the greatest earthbender in the world during her era. Toph invented the art of metalbending which refers to the ability to control metal. She trained Avatar Aang in the art of earthbending which was his weakest element. She was born blind and her parents believed she needed constant protection. Despite this, they were quickly amazed when they learned how independent she truly was.

Toph initially learned how to earthbend by spending time with the baggermoles and studying their movements. She noticed that the animals were natural earthbenders.

Toph was an undefeated Earthbending master. Toph destroyed an entire army of earthbenders during one particular clash before the eyes of Aang, Katara, and Sokka.

Tussle with Macai
Several months after the conclusion of the Hundred Year War, a disillusioned and manipulated Macai attempted to hunt and slay the Avatar. Macai's trademark white flames were incapable of stunning Toph by blinding her because she didn't rely on her vision. Macai fought in a grounded and direct style that made him particularly easy for Toph to deal with compared to other top tier benders of her timeline. Toph stopped Macai from potentially harming Aang and interrogated him until Iroh discovered how to break Macai's hypnosis.
